Compressed and liquefied gases are products stored under pressure in cylinders and vessels, used in industry, healthcare, laboratories and construction.

Pressure dominates the whole operation: the cylinder stops being merely a container and becomes pressure equipment, with its own validity and inspection. Temperature variation along the way changes internal pressure, and flammable, oxidising and inert gases receive different treatment from one another.
